Blueberry season is drawing to a close and I have yet to make a batch of jam. Fortunately, my friend Sokbun motivated me to have a jam session together. It was easier and more fun working together. Hopefully we can start with strawberries next year.
We just followed the basic recipe in Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving: 400 Delicious and Creative Recipes for Today which was a gift from Marcel’s aunt. I highly recommend this book.
My next project will be canning tomatoes. I have never tried this before but I want to make three versions: plain tomatoes, tomato puree for basic sauces, and ready to eat pasta sauce. It looks like we will have plenty of tomatoes from our garden. With a fairly consistent weather pattern, they should be ready soon.
