This Weekend

Hello spring sunshine! I made assorted cupcakes to celebrate the arrival of our friends Curtis and Jennifer’s little Blake. The flavors were cocoa almond (Trader Joe’s answer to Nutella), tiramisu, and strawberry jam. Our seed farm is looking good! Brunch last Sunday at Kenny and Zuke’s. Salmon hash with poached eggs. Mulder at a recent […]

Tuscan Bean Stew

I found this recipe from The Best International Recipe cookbook but it is also available at the Cook’s Illustrated website. I modified it slightly to suit our tastes. Instead of soaking the bread, I topped each bowl with croutons just before serving. I also substituted chicken broth for water. This stew hit the spot on […]

Dallas Family and Friends

I had a wonderful time visiting family and friends and looking forward to my next visit. Here are some random pictures that I took with my Canon G12. I wanted to take my Nikon D90 but thought I would save space but maybe I should have. Somehow the G12 likes to use high ISO and […]

Howdy From The Big D!

I’m in Dallas, TX this week visiting my family. It’s a different world out here and I’m getting some much needed sunshine. As always, it’s a blast to get together with my family and some old friends. First things first – I got myself a pair of cowboy boots from Cavender’s Lunch with Marcel’s Dad Rejean […]

The Filipino community in my workplace had a Christmas party. We had a gift exchange where I brought a Leatherman Multi-Tool and received a nice Jewelry Stand. Yummy […]

PSU Farmers Market

Yesterday we spent the day in Portland with a friend, Chad. Starting from the PSU farmers market, we made several culinary stops and ended the day at my favorite place Alotto Gelato. It rained most of the day but like true Portlanders, we did not let that stop us. Here are some highlights: The market […]

Hair of the Dog and Fresh Pasta

We were out and about last weekend looking for sunglasses but I did not find anything I liked. As always, we found some good eats instead. Checked out the tasting room at Hair of the Dog Brewing Company. I had the “Little Dog, Light” while Marcel had the “Fred”. After some drinks we had planned […]
