August was the best month so far so I thought I would write about the meals we’ve made out of our garden’s bounty. Not all ingredients were from our garden. Some were from our CSA share, others from the Farmers’ Market, produce stand, and grocery stores. You might also notice that these are all vegetarian meals. We eat mostly vegetarian food but eat meat occasionaly.
Spaghetti al Pomodoro – I used a basic tomato puree recipe then added onions, garlic, oregano and basil.

Marcel made this salsa with no recipe. He just put tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, and cilantro in the food processor then added salt, pepper, and ground cumin.

The base of this soup is
Leek Potato Soup but Marcel got creative to “use up” our vegetables.

Eggplant Parmigiana recipe by Mario Batali. I added some pasta to make a heartier meal.

Recently, Mulder’s retractable leash locked up and would not retract anymore. I thought about returning it but the receipt is nowhere to be found. Luckily, I took a chance and contacted Aspen Pet, the company who makes these wonderful products. I got a quick response with instructions on where to send it back. Soon after, we received a package with a brand new retractable leash with a bonus toy and some treats! Now, that is “customer service”.

Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion and not a paid post. I’m so happy about the response, I had to write about it. I highly recommend the leash but please follow the instructions and use caution.
To celebrate our sixth wedding anniversay we had a simple celebration with dinner at Le Pigeon and drinks at Doug Fir Lounge. Chef Gabriel Rucker’s creations were delicious! The place was cozy comfortable and reminded us of Europe. We highly recommend both places.

Have you even been to a car meet? I’ve heard about them but have never been to one until today. A car meet is simply a gathering of like-minded owners with activities such as BBQs, auto shows, and drives. This one is all about Toyota MR2s or Twos as they refer to them. It would have been better if Francis had his Mark II MR2 with him but Dallas, TX is a long way from Portland. Anyhow, it was fun except that my Honda Civic trailed way behind everyone else during the drive to Bald Peak. It is a great car but more suitable for commuting. Francis even won a Toyota cap and water bottle plus an oil filter!

Show and Shine was held at Washington Square
